January 17, 2015 (Saturday, 1:30 pm) Martin Luther King observance. – Allentown
Remembering MLK: Bending the Arc of History Toward Justice we will meet at the Dr. King and Coretta Scott King Memorial Plaza (at the intersection of Union St., 4th St., and Martin Luther King Drive, Allentown) and walk with banners and drums to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where there will be a program including a talk by Phyllis Alexander and songs by LEPOCO Peace Singers. For those who prefer not to walk, you can arrive at the church by 2:30 for the rest of the program. Event has been organized by the Stop the Wars Committee. January 19, 2015 (Monday, 11 am) The Allentown Branch of the NAACP will hold its 35th Annual “Tribute to a King” celebration at the historic St. James A.M.E. Zion Church located at 4th and Union Streets in Allentown where the Reverend Thomas E. Sweatt is the Pastor. This annual spirited event celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The public is invited to attend. This year’s theme is “No Justice – No Peace”. Our keynote speaker will be Allentown Police Chief, Dr. Joel F.
